Illinois Notebook: Concealed Carry
In 2011, the Illinois General Assembly was working on a bill that would allow residents to carry a concealed firearm. The Illinois Chiefs of Police were in favor of the measure. But one man in their ranks was not. Former Secret Service agent Tim McCarthy took a bullet for Ronald Reagan on March 30, 1981. Thirty years later to the day, McCarthy was in Springfield with the chiefs to discuss concealed carry. I talked to him about why he thought it was a bad idea.
